Do you believe in magic of numbers? We all know the Arabic folk tale about the Persian king Shahriyar and his wife Scheherazade called The Book of the Thousand Nights and One Night. So this tale came to our mind when the client asked us to transport 1,001 tons of a chemical element called calcium chloride.
Our task was to deliver the cargo from Vladivostok to the Lena station of Ust-Kut (Irkutsk region, Russia). The client chartered a ship and sent big bags from Liaocheng (Shandong province, China) to the port of Vladivostok. We have carried out customs clearance, forwarding, storage and delivery by trucks and railway. Why did we conduct transportation from the port by trucks?
The point is that there is no railway infrastructure in the port of Vladivostok, so we took 8 tent semi-trailers to pick the cargo up. In order to optimize the cost of delivery and taking into account the significant volumes of bags, we decided to carry out transportation by rail. Special heavy wagonloads were selected for these purposes.
Another important point was the organization of loading process at the port at night. We performed all the loading activities due to the established connections and gradually delivered the cargo to Vtoraya Rechka railway station in Vladivostok. The railway delivery became the second stage of the project.
The first batch of 12 wagonloads was sent from the station on January 9. The second batch of 11 wagonloads started its journey 3 days later. The big bags arrived at the destination point on January 26 and 29, respectively. The delivery was performed in accordance with the agreed terms. Railway delivery allowed the customer to save money while the competent technical calculation allowed being in time on the delivery by railway.
