Container shipments

Project

Onega (Russia) is a northern city in the Arkhangelsk region on the shore of the White Sea. We received a request to deliver sawmilling equipment to Onega from Oberkirch (Germany). 27 forty-foot containers were purchased in Germany to transport the cargo. Despite the difficulties in mutual settlements with the European partners, we successfully purchased containers and began to submit them for loading to the Oberkirch starting March 20. We brought a couple of empty containers and took the loaded ones, sending them along the route to ensure stable loading and transportation process.

Another important part was the foreign economic activity (FEA). We concluded an agreement with the Smolensk station, where customs clearance took place. Before that, we received a classification solution for the ability to transport all the cargo within one HS code, which significantly facilitated the work.

However, we can’t call the transportation trouble-free. While containers were in Germany, there was a mass strike of transport employees, which slowed down the work process a little bit. Some of the containers had already left for Brest by this time, some were at the terminal, and the rest were loaded at Oberkirch.

Another ‘endurance test’ was a hacker attack on the services of the Federal Customs Service. After restoring the possibility of issuing declarations, the containers continued their journey to the destination. Overall the cargo covered a distance of 3,800 km. 1,500 km of them were passed throughout the territory of Europe. In mid-May, the customer received the last container with the remaining part of the cargo was successfully delivered to Onega.

Thus, despite some difficulties on the way, we successfully implemented the transportation, providing the customer with all the necessary services, including the purchase of containers, foreign trade and insurance. We would be glad to use our expertise to solve a variety of your logistics tasks.
